EQUITY

simply means equal access and opportunity. In order to achieve this goal, I believe we must investigate all systems, processes, and policies that exist to ensure equity.

  • As a former teacher, I have seen how impactful it is when students can see themselves represented by their mentors/educators. I will advocate for equity in hiring practices at all levels of the school system to ensure that our students can have mentors and teachers who reflect the diversity of cultures in our schools.

  • Equity is also about accessibility for students with disabilities who need paraprofessionals, aides, and substitute staff. I will champion increased support for educators who are knowledgeable and are well qualified to work with children with disabilities. An equitable education fosters a thriving community for all.
